Kesagami Wilderness Lodge is considered by many outdoor writers, TV shows and outdoor enthusiasts to be the finest fly-in fishing lodge in northern Canada. It has consistently ranked at the top of the list for its fishing and awesome customer service. Located in the secluded and remote James Bay Lowlands, north of Cochrane, Ontario, Kesagami Lake is a sprawling body of water averaging only 7 feet deep and yet it stretches 20 miles by 10 miles and is serviced exclusively by Kesagami Wilderness Lodge – the only lodge on the lake. The accommodations at Kesagami are a combination of rustic log cabins and deluxe motel style lodge rooms complete with private bathrooms. The main dining room and recreational area is spacious and well appointed.
The Hospitality Internship provides the opportunity to work in multiple areas, activities, and responsibilities: Lodging, Food and Beverage, Events, Outdoor Activities, Maintenance, and Marketing. This position will divide its time in multiple areas of the resort, providing experience in multiple aspects of hospitality operations at the Lodge.
· Work with the events coordinator on marketing and event activities, including managing social media and the Lodge website, blogging, photography, event planning and execution, and administrative activities.
· Under the guest services lead, the candidate will learn to make reservations, work with guests, provide tourism information, and assist with administrative duties.
· Help the food and beverage lead with ordering, scheduling, and managing the dining room, bar, and cafe, including learning about food and beverage safety, mixology, and staff management.
· Assorted other duties as needed to ensure the resort provides quality service based upon the resort’s desired image.
Must be a minimum Senior High School student looking at pursuing a career in the Tourism industry. The aim of this position is to provide the right candidate with real world experience in hospitality and business management. The ideal intern will be excited to learn, flexible, and willing to work within a fun, joyous, adventuresome environment. This position will be supervised directly by the Lodge Manager, who will provide guidance, monitor goals and performance, and work with any course or program requirements before, during, and after the internship.
