McEwen Inc. currently has a vacancy at the Stock Complex Site in Shillington, Ontario for a Mill Tailings Specialist. Position Overview: Reporting to the Mill Manager, the Mill Tailings Specialist is responsible for promoting safety in the Stock Mill work environment, while carrying out various duties dedicated to the Mill’s continuous operations. In this key role, the Mill Tails Specialist must be an exemplary employee focused on safety with a constructive and energetic personality. They will interact with Company employees, supervisors, coordinators, managers and JHSEC. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs. The list of duties and responsibilities below is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative, and flexible in line with the requirements of the position. Key Responsibilities Operational / Technical Execution Regularly (every shift) conduct “Tails Management Area” (TMA) inspection. Ensure safety conditions of running TMA align with detailed controls. Ensure work is being performed to McEwen safety standards by all workers at the TMA. Development and implementation of TMA maintenance, modernization, and pre-seasons plans. Preparing and supporting “Authorization for Expenditure” AFEs. Ensure housekeeping is being performed in work areas. Ensuring timely ordering of necessary goods and services. Assume control over the available materials, consumables, especially critical items related to the TMA. Develop scope of work for outsourcing (design, repair, modernization, etc.), participating in meetings, reviewing results, and ultimately involvement in the acceptance of outsourced work. Handle communications related to but not limited to the designers, contractors, regulators, and ministry. Collection, systematization, and storage of TMA documentation. Collection and analysis of TMA statistics. Maintain (fill out) necessary TMA documentation. Development of measures to reduce the TMA cost. Leading and participation in TMA Emergency Response Activities. Participation in SOP development. General Administration and Controls Possess a desire to learn and apply their skills in the plant environment in order to maintain and operate all relevant equipment throughout the mill. Ensure all of McEwen’s safety rules, regulations, and policies are being followed by self and all personnel while on site. Promote McEwen’s health and safety requirements and procedures within their respective department and team. Conduct operational and maintenance activities in accordance with the established training guidelines, plans, budget, and procedures and conform to both industry and Company best practices. Manage people (employees and contractors) operate and maintain Running Tails Management Area (further TMA). Planning, explanation, and implementation of budget. Qualifications & Skills Required Qualifications Legal to work within Canada. Experience with computers, peripheral equipment, and information systems. Fully able to read drawings/schematics. At least bachelor’s degree in the field related to Mill Tails Management. Mill Tails Management Law knowledge. Previous TMA experience for at least 3 years. Previous TMA experience in communication with Engineering, Contactors and Regulators. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Skills & Competencies Valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation. A confident driver in Wintery conditions. At times, able to work overtime, in the evening and at the weekend. Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems. Solid analytical capabilities coupled with good problem-solving skills. Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently and make decisions based on sound principles while always maintaining a safety conscious mentality and the safety culture within the Mill. Highly motivated to learn, undergo training programs and to become a professional with the intent to become part of the McEwen Mill team supporting the milling process. Strong communication skills and the ability to understand a wide range of perspectives. The ability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative, and energetic environment. Possess a heightened sense of attention to detail. Ability to interact with a wide variety of departments/roles within all levels of the organization. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple activities. Desire to learn and improve skills and knowledge. Able to work in a flexible production environment while possessing strong team coaching skills. Proficient in Excel and other MS Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), AutoCAD. Salary Range: $98,000 - $115,000 Salary will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and skills.
